In May 2010 Stuart won a commission as part of Essex County Council's 'Journey to the Podium' project, to work alongside a Paralympian and create a piece or work depicting their Journey, hopefully, to the Olympics in 2012. He chose to work with Adam Alderman, a Powerlifter. He recorded sounds made by Adam during three training sessions at the gym, and at one National Powerlifting Championship, which were then composed into an 'anthem' called First Flight. For the public to experience the anthem in a gallery setting a weights bench was modified to playback of the song, together with the expertise of Walter Reid,

In connection with Journey to the Podium, Essex County Council also ran 'Artists of the Future' where Stuart and Adam gave a workshop at Greensward Academy with Year 12 Students. Stuart then mentored young artist Tom Love through a new piece of work which was also exhibited at the Gibberd Gallery with all the other work by the commissioned artists and their mentored students.
